Renewable Energy Group to acquire biodiesel plant for $2.6m

CTBR Staff Writer Published 21 November 2012

Biodiesel producer Renewable Energy Group (REG) has acquired a 15 million gallon per year biodiesel production plant near Atlanta, Georgia.

The company paid $2.6m for the former BullDog Biodiesel operation that is located in Ellenwood and employs a variety of feedstock such as cooking oil.

The facility earlier augmented REG's biodiesel sales in the Southeast but later had to close operations due adverse market conditions.

REG president and CEO Daniel Oh remarked that the company is focused on strategically expanding its network of biodiesel production facilities.

"Once repaired, upgraded and restarted the REG Atlanta facility will offer us additional long-term capacity to meet high-demand diesel markets across the Southeast," said Oh.

REG manufacturing vice president Brad Albin noted, "Our team has demonstrated a successful model for integrating new technologies into our network and upgrading facilities to utilize lower cost raw materials."
