Eco-Energy, Copersucar form alliance to develop integrated bio-fuel platform

CTBR Staff Writer Published 06 November 2012

North-American bio-fuel marketer Eco-Energy and Brazilian sugar and ethanol trader Copersucar have entered into a joint venture to construct and expand their integrated bio-fuel platform.

The two companies will look to exploit mutual synergies and efficiencies to develop an integrated bio-fuel platform, expected to be the largest bio fuel platform according to the companies.

The resultant platform will add to the cumulative supply capacity of 10 billion liters of bio-fuel per annum.

Commenting on the alliance Eco-Energy CEO Chad Martin remarked that the partnership builds on the platform already built by the company and will create opportunities for their producer partners.

Copersucar CEO Paulo Roberto de Souza added, "We believe that this investment has a great potential for value creation for all, as it continues and expands operations, supported by its market expertise and strategic alliances."

Eco-Energy currently holds about 9% of the US ethanol market, with about $3bn sales annually, while Copersucar markets about 24% of the total sugarcane production in the Center-South region of Brazil.
